GHANA -V- ENGLAND MATCH WITH VIDEO CLIP

PFL UK played host to a number of our partners at Wembley to watch a somewhat experimental England team take on the Black Stars of Ghana in a much anticipated first ever meeting at Wembley. Following a debut goal by Liverpool’s Andy Carroll, Ghana grabbed a much deserved late equaliser to send the near 20,000 Black Star fans into raptures! The evening was a spectacle of colour and music with many Ghanaian fans arriving at the North London venue hours before kickoff to ensure that theirs would be an evening not to forget. The Black Stars had many of their World Cup heroes on show with Sunderland’s Asamoah Gyan stamping his class on the match with Ghana’s 90th minute goal. The spoils were shared and those Ghana fans stayed behind to serenade their team well into the night, or until Wembley’s security staff allowed! It would be safe to say that the PFL guests had not seen anything like the scenes when Gyan stroked his equaliser into the corner of the net; no doubt Accra was rocking.
PFL have strong ties with Ghana; the PFL Accra office opening in 2009 and Matt Hornshaw, PFL’s UK Director, renewing his love of African football following his successful years working with members of the Ghana Football Association in the lead up to the Black Stars first ever World Cup appearance in Germany in 2006. Matt also worked with Ghana’s ladies national team, the Black Queens, providing sports science and UEFA coaching support via our partners at the University of Hull in the UK.
